Simrad S5100 Black-Box Fishfinder Module Review

Simrad S5100 Black-Box Fishfinder Module

Traditional fishfinders have been more or less supplanted by CHIRP units, but even CHIRP has its limitations. One of the reasons why is simply size and space; the more you jam-pack into a MFD unit the larger it becomes, and we all want a svelte unit to install at the helm. You can, however, give your fish-finding abilities a shot in the arm by adding a black-box finder which has gobs of power and additional channels. That’s why Simrad has introduced the S5100. Before we dig in and check out the details, let’s take a quick look at the unit in action.

MJM 35z Review

MJM 35z

Whether you’re trading stocks or forecasting weather, the old saying goes, “The trend is your friend,” and with the MJM 35z this builder gets on board with modern developments. Boatbuilders have been leveraging the advantages of potent and compact outboards to drive designs that were traditionally powered by inboard engines—everything from express cruisers to bowriders. That trend has even boiled down to the traditionally inboard-dominated Downeast powerboat market.

First came the outboard version of the C-24 about two years ago, followed by the introduction of the company’s new C-242 and C-302 Sport Coupes at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show last year. As luck would have it, we were on hand for the launch of these new models and took the time to crawl all over them, inside and out.

Moomba All New Helix Review

Moomba’s all new Helix

One of the most affordable ways to get into a wake sports boat - Moomba’s all new Helix. Well! It’s impossible to talk about the Moomba Helix without talking price, so let’s be up front about it. The base price of the Helix is $56,760, which about half of what you could spend on a new wake sports boat. Even if you did spend twice the Helix’s MSRP, you’d still be paying roughly 55 percent of what you could spend on a wake sports boat.
